About us
We've Fought Cruise Lines Before. We'll Fight for You.

Chalik & Chalik is a Florida personal injury law firm founded by husband-and-wife attorneys Jason Chalik and Debi Chalik. Jason graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Debi earned her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University School of Law, where she was a member of the Nova Law Review. Together they built a firm on a simple belief: that injured people deserve to work directly with the lawyers actually fighting for them.
The firm has been operating since 1995 — beginning when Jason became managing partner of Rosen & Monaldi in Plantation, later restructured as Rosen & Chalik, where Jason and Debi first practiced together. When the founding partner retired, the Chaliks took over and established The Law Offices of Chalik & Chalik. They have run it as a family-owned practice ever since, from their home community of Plantation, Broward County.
Their firm motto — "Our family fighting for your family" — is not marketing language. It reflects how they actually practice. Every case is handled directly by Jason or Debi. No handoffs to junior associates. No case managers acting as middlemen. When you call Chalik & Chalik, you speak with the attorneys whose names are on the door.
"Our names are on the firm. It's very important that everything about our firm represents our commitment to our clients. We want our name to mean we're excellent lawyers and we take a personal interest in every case. We will fight for our clients as if they were our own family."
— Jason Chalik, Founding Partner
Florida is the center of the cruise industry. Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, PortMiami, and Port Canaveral handle more cruise passengers than any ports in the world. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC, Disney, and Celebrity all call Florida home. When something goes wrong aboard one of those ships — a fall, a serious illness, an assault, a death — the legal fight that follows almost always lands in Florida courts.
That is the world Chalik & Chalik has been operating in for decades. Cruise accident law is a specialized area, shaped by federal maritime statutes, the Death on the High Seas Act (DOHSA), the Jones Act, and ticket contract terms that most passengers never read until something goes wrong. We have spent years learning exactly how cruise lines use those rules to protect themselves — and exactly how to fight back on behalf of the people they've harmed.
Debi Chalik made history as the first attorney to file suit against a cruise line for negligently exposing passengers to COVID-19, securing settlements for over one hundred clients in under a year. That case — which arose directly from the Grand Princess outbreak, a ship that carried members of the Chaliks' own extended family — reflects both the personal and professional depth they bring to cruise accident litigation.

At most large personal injury firms, partners are visible at intake and then disappear. At Chalik & Chalik, Jason and Debi personally handle your cruise accident case from the first call through resolution — reviewing evidence, building strategy, and appearing when your case requires it. That's how they've practiced since 2003.
If a cruise accident injury prevents you from traveling to our office, we come to you. Our team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be at your home, your hospital, or wherever you are within 24 hours. Cruise accident victims are often dealing with serious injuries, long recoveries, and significant financial pressure. We built our practice to meet clients where they are — not the other way around.
Every cruise accident case we take is handled on a contingency fee basis. You pay nothing upfront. We collect a fee only if we recover compensation for you. Your first consultation with Jason or Debi Chalik is completely free. There is no financial risk to calling us and no cost to learning where you stand.
"Debi and I take everything personally. To us, it's not just a job. We don't stop thinking about our cases when we go home at night. I think that makes us better."
— Jason Chalik, Founding Partner

Jason Chalik is a graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Debi Chalik is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University School of Law and a Life Member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum — recognized for obtaining verdicts and settlements of at least one million dollars. Both attorneys are members of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Florida Justice Association.
Both are admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida in Miami — the federal court where most cruise accident lawsuits against Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Celebrity are required to be filed under ticket contract forum selection clauses. Chalik & Chalik litigates there regularly.
The firm has recovered multiple seven-figure settlements and verdicts, including a $22.1 million settlement and a $6.5 million federal court settlement. These results span a range of catastrophic injury cases — not cruise accident cases exclusively — but they reflect the firm's commitment to pursuing every case to its fullest value. Chalik & Chalik has been featured on CNN, ABC News, the Today show, Inside Edition, USA Today, and 60 Minutes.
If you or someone in your family was hurt in a cruise accident, the most important step is to get accurate information about your legal options before any deadlines pass. Cruise accident law moves fast. Ticket contract filing windows and notice requirements can cut off your claim before you realize it.
Call Chalik & Chalik. Talk to Jason or Debi directly. Tell them what happened. They will be straight with you about what your situation looks like and what can be done — no pressure, no cost, just honest counsel from attorneys who have been handling cruise accident law in Florida for decades.
